Anthony B. Beatrice, Director 

 

Anthony Beatrice is currently in his tenth season as Director of the Merrimack Valley Concert Band. A native of Groveland, Massachusetts, Anthony joined the band when he was in the seventh grade under the direction of Karen Mundo. He performed in the group until he left for college to major in music education.  Anthony is the Director of Performing Arts for the Boston Public Schools and is an adjunct music faculty member at the University of Massachusetts Lowell. He has served on the executive board of the Massachusetts Music Educators Association including as Chairperson of the Northeastern District of MMEA. Previously, Anthony was director of the Pentucket Music Conservatory, a Massachusetts innovation school for music.  At Pentucket, Anthony taught music technology, music composition, concert band, and the award-winning percussion ensemble. 

 

Anthony received both his Bachelor's and Master's Degrees in Music Education from the University of Massachusetts Lowell where he served as Principal Percussionist of both the University Concert Band and University Orchestra.  He also performed in the University Wind Ensemble, All-City Youth Wind Ensemble, Percussion Ensemble and was Drum Major of the River Hawk Marching Band. Additionally he served as the Student Trustee on the University of Massachusetts System-Wide Board of Trustees and was President of the Collegiate Chapter Music Educator Association.    

 

Anthony has presented clinics on music pedagogy throughout New England.  He received the UMass Lowell Student Leader of the Year Award and Chancellor's Medal for Student Service.  His website is anthonybeatricemusic.weebly.com.
